Douglas Cunningham

Douglas Carr Cunningham has been a photographer since 1968, which has given him much experience in studio and darkroom management, and photo equipment knowledge. A former U. S. Navy photojournalist, he also brings to the table of film and processing techniques.

In 1999 Douglas was one of the first local photographers to embrace the then-new digital photo technology, but he believes Black and White Film Photography stands the test of time as an archival photo medium.

“Black and White silver-based film should be included in every photographer’s toolbox,” Douglas says.

Prior to owning a studio for several years, Douglas a photo specialist at Charleston AFB, an award-winning photographer and instructor at Trident Technical College, and an award-winning newspaper editor at Charleston Navy Base before the installation closed.

Doug’s work is mixed. After a career of people photojournalism, he loves to photograph subjects “that do not move or talk back.”

In addition to instructing, Douglas processes client’s film in the CCforP traditional black and white darkroom.
